Talking to Our Children About Traumatic Events

The National Head Start Association recently posted information that provides excellent resources for guiding parents in talking to their children about traumatic events that have occurred. We would like to share one site in particular that we feel is a great resource for parents of young children. The following link will take you to the site.

Head Start Highlights

What Are Approaches Toward Learning?
Focus on Initiative and Curiosity.

The Office of Head Start requires all Head Start programs, in-cluding Early Head Start, to write school readiness goals for children who participate in the program [1307.3.(b)(1)(i)-(iii)]. These goals must describe what staff and families believe children should learn as a result of program services so that they are ready for kindergarten. The goals cover five essential domains: language and literacy development, physical well-being and motor development, cognition and general knowledge, social and emotional development, and approaches toward learning.
